No matter how large the space available is, sometimes we won't have enough space to our shoes. It is always possible to buy a new shoe shelf from a local furniture store. But nothing beats the excitement of building your own shoe shelf or a rack.
Measurements
2 Shelf Bookcase
Before you go to the local store to buy the materials needed for your shelf, take some measurements of the shelf you will need. This will help you to know the length of the boards you will need to buy. Zero in on a suitable location and take all possible measurements for that are. Once you have the measurements ready, go ahead and but the needed materials.
Materials
Next you will need to make a list of material needed to build the shelf as per your shoe self plans. Ideally you will need the following things
• 1 1/2-inch-thick and 6-inch-wide board
• 1/2-inch-thick and 3-inch-wide board
• screws
• screw driver
• "L" brackets.
The number of boards will depend on the number of layers of shelves you are intending to build. These materials can be easily found from local hardware store and sourcing them won't be a big problem. Cut the boards according to the measurement and the space available at the place where you are placing this shoe shelf.
Assembly
Attach the two "L" brackets facing downwards using the screws to the back of the 6-inch-wide board at least 2 inches from each edge. Mark the wall where you want to mount the shoe shelf and attach the bracket at these marked points. Make sure that you have enough space left in case you are adding more shelves. Now attach the 3-inch board above the boards.
You can attach as many racks as you wish and build your own shoe shelf as per the custom made shoe shelf plans.
